Safety Alert Notice

The St John G5 Semi-Automatic defibrillator digital screen is protected with a plastic film that must be removed before use to ensure proper functionality. The manufacturer has issued a Safety Alert to remind users to remove the film. We strongly recommend inspecting your devices immediately to confirm the protective film has been removed. Please note this isn't a recall or defect correction notice.

The defibrillator listed below is subject to a lot-specific Medical Device Safety Alert:

  • St John G5 Semi-Automatic Defibrillator
  • Serial Number Range: D00000276194-D00000343449

The protective film attached to the front display panel if not removed may prevent the user from pressing the shock button, which could delay or prevent defibrillation therapy during sudden cardiac arrest. The manufacturer is issuing this safety alert to remind users to inspect their devices and ensure the protective film is removed.

What you need to do:

  1. Read the manufacturer's Safety Alert
  2. Inspect your device to ensure the protective film has been removed from the digital display panel.
  3. Check the serial numbers of your device(s) to see if they fall within the affected range.
  4. Complete and return the Customer Response Form to the manufacturer as soon as possible, even if you do not have any affected devices.
  5. Inform your relevant staff and any other organisations you may have supplied the device to.
  6. Place this safety notice in a prominent position for at least one month.
